NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY
Founded in 2019, National Logistics Day takes place annually on June 28th, promoting appreciation for the important role the logistics industry plays in both our national and global economies.
Beginning when Marco Polo traveled to China on the Silk Road in 1271, the new concept of importing goods paved the way for future traders and merchants traveling between Europe and China. Fast forward to 1898: the invention of the semi-truck completely transformed how goods moved across our country. Just 16 years later, the first air cargo flight took place in 1914, landing the world of logistics in the revolutionary 21st century. By 1956, the first container ship sailed from the port of New Jersey to Texas. These advancements demonstrate how logistics Is not only constantly evolving as the world does, but also how it connects the world and always has.
Today, we celebrate the advancements of the logistics industry and how one industry has interconnected the entire globe.
