Our Story: The Prosponsive® Journey
My business partner, Jeff Lantz, and I started C.L. Services, Inc. in December of 1996. The company was incorporated on January 1, 1997.
Since the company’s inception in 1997, the goal of C.L. Services, Inc. has been to provide our customers with quality transportation and logistical solutions of outstanding value. We move shipments both nationally and internationally and specialize in providing dry and temperature-controlled truckload service throughout North America.
Dependability, accuracy, knowledgeable staff and raving customer service are the hallmarks of our company. We offer year-round rate contracts and flexible spot-pricing in addition to maintaining a large database of pre-qualified contract carriers. C.L. Services, Inc. is fully licensed, bonded and insured. We know how to get the job done with the utmost level of skill, tailored to your specific needs.
Jeff and I started the company out of a mutual desire to have some control of our own destiny. We both began our careers in the transportation industry right out of college. I began in the LTL (less than truckload) environment while Jeff started on the brokerage side of the industry. Fortunately, we both had contacts in the industry from past experience that believed in us and enabled us to get C. L. Services, Inc. off to a running start.
We initially started C. L. Services, Inc. as a commissioned brokerage and sales agent for a large refrigerated truckload carrier. Within a year, we secured our own brokerage authority under our own name and began moving business on our own operating authority in addition to continuing to move business under our agency agreement. Ultimately, our own brokerage business grew to be larger than our agency business and after a few years we made the decision to discontinue our agency and focus on building our own brand.
Now in our 24th year of business, I look back and can only say “wow.” So much has changed since those early days when everything was on paper, and a fax machine was high tech. Though we have grown tremendously in people, customers and overall reach, our values and our purpose as a company have not changed. Integrity, honesty and ethical business practices are the foundation of our business. Our core values and our purpose for existing as a company are very simple and are a reflection of the basic principles that Jeff and I hold near and dear to ourselves.

I am often asked to describe our competitive advantage. From my view, that is an easy one to answer. Our people and our size are two of our best competitive advantages in a marketplace crowded with competitors both large and small. Jeff and I are available to assist anytime. Our managers and our people are empowered to make decisions and we trust them to make decisions that are in the best interest of our customers and our business. We have been blessed and fortunate to have been able to attract, hire and retain great talent. This is the key to our long-term success moving forward.
